Another Beautiful winter day!
Todays class started with the sighting of a little vole, running across the snow. We were able to watch him tunnel into the snow and hide. He was so slight he could just scamper across the snow without falling in. We talked about giving the vole space as he probably thought we wanted to eat him and that would be stressful. Once we got to out spot we tried making our own snow homes and tunnels like the vole for our stuffies, but turns out its tricky! The snow was very powdery still which made it tough to tunnel in. The Squirrels were creative with their stuffy homes using logs, sides of trees and grass to make cozy winter homes. Ask your Squirrels about the home they made!
Then we tried our skills at sledding down the little path by our spot. At forest school we use materials for sledding that help keep the speed down since there is many obstacles and varied terrain. We have big plastic dog food bags to slide on which can be tricky to get the hang of. The Squirrels spent many runs perfecting their technique and many were able to make it down the whole path! Ask your Squirrel what their favorite part of sledding was.
You will see in the photos that the Squirrels spent free time, burying each other, practicing their throwing and digging in the snow!
