Rabbits, October 3

upstreamforestschool

The Rabbits class got moving this morning with some games! We learned a few new (to some) games, and enjoyed some old favourites like Coyote / Mouse. The game Rabbit vs Fox got us all laughing as we tried to squeeze into a rabbit hole, and there was lots of shouting and cheering during Red Rover.

During snack we read Last Leaf First Snowflake to Fall by Ojibwe artist Leo Yerxa; which is a beautiful poetic book celebrating the seasonal changes from fall to winter.

Next we went for a little exploration of the bluff to locate some rosehips. We brought our journals and spent some time sketching the plant and the berries. We harvested some, and will make a tea later in the fall once they are sufficiently dried.

When we got back to our spot we did free time. A fort was set up with tarps, some culinary delights were created in the mud kitchen and some Rabbits did painting and leaf rubbings. The Rowls class came over for a 'battle' with a few negotiations about the territory and some sneaky team meetings and ambushes thrown into the mix!
