Owls Jan 16

Today was an action-packed day with the Owls group! We started off the day with a raucous game of cat and mouse. Following this, we practiced our communication skills with a new challenge from Ms. Heidi—a water bottle search! Everyone got a chance to try each of the three roles of blindfolded seeker, speaker, and silent actor. Ask your Owl which role they found most challenging! Next, in teams, we dove back into using our tracking skills, this time with compass work and rope measurements, to hide mystery packages for the other team. Upon finding and opening the packages, our afternoon challenge was revealed: making brownies over the fire!

But first, some free time on the bluff, an epoxy-making session with Ms. Rikia and a grid walk with Ms. Heidi. Gregory found some incredible treasures and the epoxy crew finished up with creatively decorated moulds. Stay tuned next week for the results!

During lunch, some entertaining would-you-rather scenarios followed by a few games of mafia!

The afternoon found us at Sammies Park. Starting with some solo sit-spot time to practice flint and steel skills. The fire building and teamwork on the fire today was outstanding, these Owls are hitting their pyro groove! The fire was tended to with great care until we had coals to bake our brownies. An intermission for tree climbing time trials ensued with some very impressive numbers being added to the leaderboards. To our excitement, the brownies were a great success and much enjoyed by all.

Our day wrapped up with a reflective debrief around the fire on the gifts that our classmates bring under a sunny snow shower!
