Foxes, January 14th

The Foxes welcomed our newest Fox, Maisey with open arms and excitement for a new person to play with. The day started with some games and a new challenge called flip the tarp. This challenge was re-run over and over again until the Foxes were able to settle on the remarkable time of flipping the tarp in 8 seconds! We will see if they can out fox the Owls and keep their winning time. The class worked cohesively together to get through this challenge; they worked through frustrations; some took leadership roles while others worked enthusiastically as a team; and they encouraged one another with positivity and confidence.

The rest of the morning was spent coming up with olympic sports, practicing those sports and timing them to bring a challenge back to the Owls. The Foxes worked on long distance running (up and down the bluff), wrestling, sword fighting and tree climbing.

After lunch the Foxes were challenged again with a difficult sit spot, which was to light a cottonball with a flint and steel. This is no easy task and the Foxes worked hard on practicing their steel to ignite a spark. Ask your Fox how they felt about the sit spot. Some enjoyed it and some found it difficult.

The Foxes are getting incresingly good at making a fire as a group. They were able to delegate jobs amongst themselves to make sure they had all the wood they needed. Once they did they worked together to build and feed the fire. The fire was successfully lit with flint and steel! Once the fire was stable we made popcorn over the fire. Ask your Fox what was missing from the popcorn.
