Cottontails, December 12th

upstreamforestschool

The Cottontails had their first skate day. For some of the Cottontails it was the first time on skates this year and for, well Avyn it was a fun afternoon to skate in the outdoors and help Priya and Breanne while taking shots at the net. By the end of the afternoon Priya and Breanne were skating like pros and eager for more skating time!

Each cottontail was given their own fire to start. We went over the basics of what you need: tinder, kindling, wood and something to ignite the fire. These guys are great at lighting matches and setting the tinder on fire. The tricky part is to catch the kindling and to make a fire last. They managed to get two fires going and cooked their apple shish-kabobs.

After getting back on the ice to warm up, the Cottontails wrapped up the day with charcoal drawing in their journals.
